Who is the artist/sculptor Harrie Stortelder?
Artist and sculptor Harrie Stortelder (Born in Neede,NL, 1954) has since 1999 signed his work under the name of Hasto. In his youth he became involved with art through contact with local artists. He became inspired by the Cobra Group, and consequently his work is often compared with the work of Karel Appel or Lucebert. Hasto is self-taught and his work comes from within his creative soul. The works of Hasto are fun and brightly coloured. His paintings portray fantasy animals and alien beings. Expressions in impressionist colour explosions painted on canvas, panel, cardboard or paper with acrylics, mixed media and other materials such as plaster and sand. As well as paintings Hasto also creates objects and sculptures. Over recent years Hasto has held various displays and exhibitions of his work in galleries and institutes, both as an individual and as part of group presentations.
